Spring/Summer 2017 – Distribution Office Internship – Film & TV
Term: May to August 2017 + beyond

Roles & Responsibilities:
Syndicado is seeking highly motivated, smart, pro-active candidates for an internship starting in
May 2016 in our Distribution group. While duties do include some general administrative tasks
such as Web research, screening films, updating license agreements and Web site
maintenance, you will also have the chance to develop a new initiative for the company that can
lead a permanent role.
Candidates must have a passion for Indie film and documentaries but also appreciate the
‘business’ aspect of show business. Candidates must be comfortable making phone calls in an
open, home office environment (if working locally) and be confident in reaching out to new
partners and establishing relationship with new exhibitors. The office will be moving to a
dedicated location over the summer and some assistance is expected in the move.
Duties include:
Account Management & Merchandising – developing monthly pitches to key partners for
upcoming films. Developing and pitching editorial promotional ideas in addition to packaging
and placement strategies with key partners.
Updating the newsletter on a monthly business; working with the team internally to plan and
schedule film releases for the calendar year.Supporting other team members with VOD availability lists, and other responsibilities related to
digital distribution.
Secure bookings according to our theatrical schedule and managing distribution of materials
required for theatrical.
Other duties as may be required to support other business groups.
Ideal candidate would be selected for ongoing placement in the same role, starting our part time
with the goal toward full time based on overall business.

 

Skills required:
Good phone sales/conversation skills. Must be confident reaching out to new theaters and
speaking with bookers.
General office program skills – MS Office and MAC programs. Some graphics programs to
create newsletters.
Graphic design and layout; ability and flare for creating GIFs, helps.
WordPress, web maintenance

 

Research
Knowledge and practice of using social media; keen sense of wit, relevance and understanding
to develop grass roots support for films, locally or on VOD
Must be extremely organized, able to juggle multiple priorities and have a keen attention to
detail.
While our main office is in Toronto, we are open to a remote, home office situation for the right
candidate.
Candidates must be willing to commit 4 days per week.
