Syndicado is pleased to announce the acquisition of Produckja Folmow’s Man At War, a documentary that puts the spotlight on men fascinated by World War II who pursue their passion in the realm of computer games. Following players and their lives, director Jacek Blawut inquires if we are witnessing the rise of a new type of human – homo virtualis. The documentary will premiere on VOD platforms in North America on September 16th, 2014, commemorating the anniversary of the ending of the Battle of Britain in 1941.
“Man At War had me engrossed from start to finish. I was intrigued by the profiles of the international personalities involved in the role-playing and found myself anticipating the culminating battle. It is a very entertaining doc and we are delighted to work with Produkcja Filmow to distribute in North America and beyond… digitally – it’s a no brainer for bother cable and game platforms.” said Greg Rubidge, founder and President of Syndicado Inc.
The doc reveals the increasing virtual nature of our society, focusing more on fantasy worlds than reality. “The power of the virtual world lies in the fact that you move there for good, that the virtual life becomes your real life and each return to reality seems painful. Therefore, most people would prefer to stay in the virtual space forever because they have found their place there, their dreams come true and they are able to show the best of themselves.” said Writer and Director Jacek Blawut.
“After the initial broadcast success with HBO and screenings at various festivals, we’re delighted to have inked a VOD distribution deal with Syndicado, which now gives Man at War an even larger audience” said Gosia Sandecka on behalf of the producers. “Man at War is a perfect doc for new platforms and with the number of digital outlets partnered with Syndicado, we felt it was a great partnership and opportunity for our film and a chance to take an European production beyond European circuit .”
